This week the activities will focus on acquiring pre-reading skills with environmental print. Environmental print is the print we see in everyday life. Letters you see on candy wrappers, restaurant bags, grocery store signs, cereal boxes and street signs are all examples of environmental print. Because we see these examples everywhere, and it gives children a concrete connection to print, environmental print is great for teaching young children the skills they need to get ready to read and write! And, it is of little or no cost to obtain!
