Skimming for unusual vocabulary

Before reading a new story to your child skim the pages for new or unusual vocabulary. Talk with her about these words before you start reading. If there are more than 4 or 5 words per page that a reader doesn’t understand, it can negatively impact overall comprehension of the story. So reviewing can help!
