This week’s lessons will focus on building creativity and imagination in your 5 year old’s growing mind. While these activities are primarily “adult-directed,” provide opportunities for child-directed play often. This means your child chooses, directs and leads one-on-one play time with a parent or other adult. Also, have periods of “open-ended” playtime with your little one. Open-ended playtime involves using toys/items in various ways with no time restraints or “rules.” For example, a kitchen spoon is not just for stirring. It can be a princess wand, a pirate sword, a flagpole, or a microphone…and it can be all of these things in 1 afternoon!
