Secondary colors

This week you will be learning all about the science of secondary colors. Your 5 year old most likely has a grasp on naming the colors, but knowing how to mix primary colors to get secondary colors is probably a new concept. This week’s lessons will include simple science experiments that give your child the opportunity to observe how colors are created. While working through the activities, be sure to allow your child opportunities to make predictions about what will happen and pause often to discuss what is being observed. There are many, many color-related children’s books. Little Blue and Little Yellow by Leo Lionni and Mouse Paint by Ellen Stoll Walsh are wonderful selections to read while learning about mixing colors!
