Sight words

This week’s activities will focus on sight word practice. Five year olds are beginning to learn sight words (also called high-frequency words). These words make up about 50-75% of the words your child will encounter in early reading material. Being able to recognize these words automatically makes reading much easier! Examples of sight words are: a, the, to, and, he, I, you, it, of, and in. You can easily obtain a list of words that your child should be working on from his or her teacher or within your home-school materials.
