As your child begins to recognize and understand the alphabet, eliminate confusion by helping them understand upper and lowercase letters. Be sure to talk with your child about how the letters make the same sound even though they look different. A great place to point out upper and lowercase letters is your child’s name. Write 10 lowercase and 10 uppercase letters on index cards. Put the letters in a bag and have your child pull 1 out at a time. Sort the letters into 2 appropriate piles.
