Predicting text

Children should become familiar with and be able to predict text. They should begin sharing in reading familiar books and passages. To encourage this reading behavior, track the words you are reading with your finger. Define the spaces between words. Show you child how you can work to sound out unknown words. Create an easy to read book with your child. Fold about 6 pages together and ask them to draw the pictures while you write the words. Try to have one sentence or less per page. Point and read!
