Magazine reading activities

This week’s lessons will focus on reading activities to do with magazines! Magazines are a fun way to incorporate non-fiction reading into your reading time. Barnes and Nobel did a study some years ago and learned that 80% of women enjoy reading fiction, while 80% of men prefer to read non-fiction. Ask any teacher and the same trends hold true with young readers. Take a trip to the bookstore or library with your child. There are many, many magazines published that are just for children! Look at several types of magazines with your child. Buy or check out a magazine that your child has chosen. Read articles to your child, listen to your child read and encourage some silent reading as well. The activities provided this week will help you extend your magazine reading experience.
