This week’s activities will focus on reading fluency. As your child moves through school the focus of reading instruction begins to move away from decoding words and will focus on other areas. One area of focus will be fluency – or reading with speed, accuracy and expression. This week you will find suggestions to help your child improve reading fluency. Be sure to choose books for fluency practice that are on your child’s current reading level. If you are unsure of your child’s reading level ask his or her teacher. After you have this information, your library’s media specialist will be able to help you and your child find books that are within this range.
